What sources are you using?
Now that some of you have established what aspect of the American Dream you will explore in your essays, you should discuss what sources (besides the literature) you plan to use. Tell each other how you found each source and how you intend to use it in your essay to support your thesis.

ive got all my resources except one but i got the ones that i do have off the library site she showed us in class.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on using my sociology text book which talks about race, and certain aspects of the American Dream. It discusses the different levels of class in America and I think it will be a good source for supporting my claim. My second source is "The House on Mango Street" by Sandra Cisneros. It focuses on a Hispanic girl growing up realizing she wants more than what the other women of her race have settled for in their lives. It is a story of pursuing her dream while being a minority.
ReplyDeleteI will also be using my sociology text book and the literature. I am still looking for my fourth source.

ReplyDeleteI got all but one of my sources from the 'Academic Search Complete' feature on the school's library website. My last source i got from a magazine that sister happened to have laying around.
ReplyDeleteI got one of my sources from 'Academic Search Complete' which was about Obama since I am talking about race conflict in the American Dream. For my other source I am currently looking for a certain book I can not but hope to find about basketball and race. How it is difficult to get a scholarship and continue on further than high school with basketball depending on your race.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I think your second source is good. It is going to really help lay out your paper!
ReplyDeleteI am using the library database in order to find some academic journals in support of my thesis statement that is racism is the main hindrance in the path of achieving the American dream for the minority groups.
ReplyDeleteI will also be using the sociology book to get data and figures based on the racial discrimination.
ReplyDeleteI used three stories from the english book and a little bit from the sociology book. i couldnt really use much from that book.I also used a source from the internet. I couldnt really find anything from the library database.
ReplyDeleteAshley, I think your topic sounds very interesting especially because it deals with something so important in our present time! I think your sources sound really helpful and will make your paper really strong and efficient. I think that our sociology book is a huge help since it deals with the broad topic of the American Dream.
